Emiddio Vasquez

Emiddio Vasquez is a Cypriot-Dominican artist and musician. His work, often assuming collaborative forms, is a perforated fusion of installations, performances, DJ sets, curated sound events, field recordings, composition, custom code, theoretical essays, fiction and record releases.

Since 2018, he has directed the Cypriot-based record label Moneda and, along with Peter Eramian, he also works as Lower Levant Company, co-representing Cyprus in the 60th Venice Biennale.

CDCD’s partnerships with global institutions comes at an important time, which finds us confronted with many of the contradictions that we inherited culturally. The trip to Chile will give a rare opportunity to investigate up close notions of diaspora and social groups, and see how to recontextualize them for the Cypriot social reality.

The digital reflection Untitled, created by Emiddio Vasquez, resonates with and responds to the experiences gained during his one-month residency at the Museum of Memory & Human Rights in Santiago, Chile. It not only reflects on the residency itself but also extends into the post-production phase, exploring the ongoing processes and transformations that follow the residency experience.
