Claudio Beorchia and Dorottya Márton in residence at Casa Árabe

In April 2025, Casa Árabe hosted artists Claudio Beorchia and Dorottya Márton in residence in Cordoba, Spain.

Claudio Beorchia focused on museum environments and the relationships between collections and the public, with particular attention to how institutions frame and narrate their histories. Through anthropological-style fieldwork in several museums, he examined how objects are discovered, interpreted, and exhibited. He developed a digital research archive consisting of images and documents that reflect institutional storytelling and curatorial framing. This archive will serve as a foundation for future participatory and digital works that will continue to evolve during the CDCD project.
Dorottya found value in silent, reflective work. Her process, rooted in sound-first narratives, examined how colonialism shaped ideas of intimacy and love. She investigated how colonialism has influenced fundamental human concepts such as love and relationships, including perspectives from pre-colonial cultures and ideas around monogamy. Dorottya engaged in research across archaeological museums and archives, exploring curatorial decisions and how narratives are constructed. She developed a detailed film script and collected research materials reflecting her thematic inquiry. The script is shaped by a sequence of imagined scenes and off-screen voices, aiming to contrast human intimacy and colonial histories through an unconventional audiovisual language.
